Liverpool reportedly changed their minds and chose not to make defender Ozan Kabak permanent. The Reds were not satisfied with the performance of the Turkish youth.
Kabak joined Liverpool in the January 2021 transfer market. Liverpool loaned him from Schalke 04 for six months. They also have the option to make Kabak permanent.
To have Kabak in full, Liverpool just pay 18 million pounds. Initially Liverpool intended to use this permanent ownership option.
But manager Jurgen Klopp claimed the British media had now changed their minds. Klopp does not want to make Kabak permanent and prefers to use his budget to buy another defender.
Difficult economic conditions due to the Covid-19 pandemic have made Liverpool unable to buy Konate and Kabak at once. Their budget is also needed to strengthen the midfield and forward.
Liverpool need to buy a midfielder to replace the out-of-contract Georginio Wijnaldum and also a top striker.
